In 2003 a five-year Cooperative Development Grant was awarded by the U.S. Department of Education under its Title V Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions Program to Our Lady of the Lake University (San Antonio, TX) in partnership with St. Edward’s University (Austin, TX). Activities supported by the Title V grant are intended to address challenges common to both institutions, including improving institutional effectiveness and increasing undergraduate student retention.
The Hispanic Serving Institution Web site is a component of both the institutional effectiveness and student retention project activities. The Web site will function as a resource (clearinghouse) on “best practices” to improve institutional effectiveness and to increase the retention of undergraduate Hispanic/Latino students at Hispanic-Serving institutions (HSIs) and other institutions with substantial Hispanic/Latino student populations. The Web site will focus initially on disseminating information on successful institutional effectiveness and student retention initiatives at Our Lady of the Lake University and St. Edward’s University.
We encourage all who have an interest in issues related to institutional effectiveness (including planning, assessment and evaluation) and/or student outreach, recruitment and retention, especially as these issues affect HSIs and Hispanic students, to complete the HSI Web site Registration Form.
Once registered, you are eligible to submit reports, data, notices of events and other pertinent information for possible inclusion in the HSI Web site. Please note that the Web site administrator reserves the right to determine if materials submitted will be displayed on the HSI Web site.
The development of the HSI Web site was made possible by a Cooperative Development Grant awarded by the U.S. Department of Education under its Title V Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions Program to Our Lady of the Lake University (San Antonio, TX) in partnership with St. Edward’s University (Austin, TX) in 2003.
We welcome your participation in the HSI Web site, and we look forward to receiving your contributions of content to the Web site’s pages that display reports on institutional effectiveness and on student outreach, recruitment and retention topics. Register today!
